Who we are
We are Childhood First, a charity for severely traumatised children. We provide specialist 24/7 treatment and therapeutic education for children with complex psychological, emotional and behavioural needs. We have five residential children’s homes and a school.
All our work is founded on our comprehensive therapeutic approach named Integrated Systemic Therapy (iST). This approach is supported by an extensive research and training programme provided by our own Institute of Integrated Systemic Therapy. Our outcomes are nationally benchmarked by the Child Outcomes Research Consortium (CORC). Our care, treatment and education staff receive clinical training from the Institute, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and Middlesex University. With over a century of caring for the traumatised young people, we have transformed the lives of countless children.
