Childhood First offer holistic and individualised care, education and treatment packages for children whose emotional and behavioural difficulties are too complex for mainstream care.
We are able to do this by providing alongside their daily care and therapeutic treatment, initiatives which contribute to the eventual well-being of the children in our care.
These initiatives are not statutory responsibilities, nor are they funded by placement fees. These initiatives are implemented solely through the generous support of our Trust and Corporate donors. Some examples of initiatives funded are as follows;
This project provides transitional support to children and young people who are moving from a life of being in care to a life of independence. This programme provides independent living support, financial skills, financial advice, job hunting and interview skills training and basic health knowledge.
Placement and Family Support
This project is aimed at helping children and young people in the wider community who suffer from behavioural and emotional disturbance cope with their difficulties and supports their families or caregivers in order that they can remain together in the familial setting, preventing placement and family breakdown.
Integrated Therapeutic Fostering
This project is either aimed at children and young people who have been resident in either one of our homes or with another residential organisation and are now assessed as requiring a family based placement; or for those for whom such a move is considered to be the best way forward. A high level of therapeutic support and training are provided to the experienced foster carers who will have already undergone Skills to Foster Training.
